Medical Director

Aziz Benbrahim, MD, FACS, is Board Certified in General Surgery, with specialized training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. He received his medical degree from Hassan II University, Casablanca, Morocco, began his surgical training in France, and completed a 6-year residency at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, CT.

During his 3-year Research Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, in collaboration with MIT Dr. Benbrahim filed three patents, and his research led to major National Institutes of Health funding. 

He trained under Yale professor, Dr. Randolph Reinhold, and Dr. John Kelly, Chief of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Dr. Benbrahim has also participated in multiple training programs in the care and management of the bariatric surgery patient. In addition to performing laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery and Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, Dr. Benbrahim is a general surgeon who performs a variety of other procedures. Dr. Benbrahim is fluent in English, French, Arabic, Berber and Spanish.

He is a member of:

  • The American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
  • The Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons
  • The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.
